OUR MISSION AND WHO WE ARE

Our goal here at Second Timothy Discipleship Ministries is twofold. First and foremost is to give each program participant a foundation to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. We want to help each person who comes here to be able to confidently share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others when they leave our facility. Secondly is to help program participants establish a permanent place to live when they leave our facility so that they will have an anchor to help them get a fresh start in the journey the Lord has set for them.

This ministry was founded from a desire that God placed in my heart several years ago. At first, it was just a desire to teach eight simple principles about Discipleship in a bible study. I did not even know how to do that; I just had a Godly desire to do it. Later, I heard a friend mention that he wanted to start a transition house, and I thought that was interesting even though I did not know what it was. This simple conversation allowed my mind to be open to what the Holy Spirit was leading me to do.

After I had just gone through a divorce, I found myself with two houses. The Lord spoke to me and had me give the larger one to one of the ministers at the church I was attending at the time. I never regretted doing that. That act of giving prompted by the Holy Spirit was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. It gave me a desire to give more, it said to me that God is my provider and I lack nothing, and if God asks me to give, who am I to say no. I prayed that the Lord would enable me to give more houses away, and now I am setting a goal that I will be able to do that as part of this ministry.

I have spent the last ten years learning to follow the commandments of Jesus Christ, mostly by being obedient and making sure I followed Christ as I should. I am not saying I am perfect, but that I am careful to do what is right and repent when I go off track even slightly. Obedience is the highest praise we can give to God.

I was ordained as a Christian Minister by the National Association of Christian Ministers. This is a non denominational nationwide organization that has offices in every state. The Arkansas chapter is headed out of Fort Smith, Arkansas, by sister Sylvia Bell, Arkansas State Coordinating Elder.

My prayer is that we will be able to first spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and secondly that each person touched by this ministry will be able to do the same, and that the people that come here will find themselves with a life that is stable enough to enable them to do this in the way the Holy Spirit leads them.
